Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of prophetic humanistic group guidance in improving the critical thinking skills of students at MA Assunniyyah. The research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using the Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The sample consisted of 16 students selected through purposive sampling, comprising 8 students in the experimental group and 8 students in the control group. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and the Mann–Whitney U Test with the assistance of SPSS version 25.0. The results showed that prophetic humanistic group guidance was effective in improving students’ critical thinking skills. This was indicated by the Wilcoxon test results in the experimental group, which obtained a significance value of 0.012 (p < 0.05), and the Mann–Whitney test result of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant difference between the experimental and control groups. The improvement in critical thinking skills was reflected in the aspects of analysis (tafakkur), evaluation (tabayyun), and logical decision-making (tadabbur). Therefore, prophetic humanistic group guidance is proven to be an effective guidance and counseling service for improving students’ critical thinking skills.
